Symantec Corporate Antivirus 8.x server group password
I need some help, I've taken over server administration duties for a company. I'm trying to access the symantec antivirus server and apparently whomever setup the program has forgotten the server group password. I've searched everywhere even on Symantec's site and I have not found an answer. We're trying to change or reset the password without having to reinstall the application. Please help me if anyone has an idea of suggestion. Thanks.

Have you tried the obvious things first, namely that the default password is symantec in lowercase.
Also, server group passwords are always lowercase (this is true of Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition v7.5/7.6, so I'm assuming this is still the case with Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition v8.x).
So if you have been trying a password that you believe is correct but doesn't work, then it could be that you have been using uppercase (?)
Also, just discovered this note at

partiallly reproduced here for convenience :
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Situation:
Customer has forgotten or misplaced password for server group.
Solution:
You need to have another server whose password is known, either an existing server group or a new server group using "symantec" as its password.
Navigate to the following key in the registry :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intel\LANDesk\VirusProtect6\CurrentVersion\AddressCache\<NAV Server with known password>\ConsolePassword
Copy the value data into the clipboard.
Then, navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intel\LANDesk\VirusProtect6\CurrentVersion\ConsolePassword
Modify the value and copy the known password string into the value.
The SSC console will now let you open the locked server group with the unknown password with the known password.
NOTE: The known password string will now also show up in ...\AddressCache\<NAV Server with unknown password>\ConsolePassword
