What distribution is possible for our company
Hello,
We use GPO to deploy our packages. We have 2200 computers and about ± 400 local apps.
The project i´m having is to install all the 2200 pc´s using software deployment. I have now installed about 700 pc´s and we have about 100 GPO defined.
My question is: Is there a tool, a GPO addon, or something else to deploy software. I know Altiris and SMS but these apps cost to many (The butget we have is not that great). I know specops but i´m not that fond of it....
so is there something else.....

We have 4 GPO´s for internet settings, screensavers, domain admins etc etc and 100 Software GPO´s. So it could be that when we finish the packaging process that we have about 200 GPO´s. I think even when we put all the software packages in just 1 GPO, we win nothing in speed, because all the software entry´s must be processed.

sejacru,
we have close to 180 apps in a single GPO. I do not believe we experiencing delays during software deployment because of that many items in the policy, and CPU on DCs does not spike at all during deployments either. IMHO, it is easier to deal with a single policy containing all the software packages, rather than with 180 policies each containing a single item.
