What is Golden Imaging?

What is golden Imaging? Cant it be used with VM Ware and Norton Ghost.
How is it different from normal imaging?

Hmmmm... Well golden used to be an OS with no servicepack, the first realise. Can it be what you looking for.

Hi,

Dont know much about it. I think it is different from the normal imaging. But it can be related to what u said. Cos i searched for it online and could nt find out much about it.

I think you are reffering to a stage in the imaging process.
To refer to a 'gold' image, is the latest and greatest image that you are using in your production environtment.

For example, if I create an image, I will want to test it out before deploying it, I will call this image an RC1 image (release candidate 1) which means if all of the tests pass and it is how I want it to be, then this could potentially become a 'gold' image.

Does this sound more like what you are trying to search for?
