What is the best way to delete older patches from my K1000?

I want to clear up some space on my K1000.  What is the best way to remove older patches that I will probably never use.

  • If you are 5.5 you can set it up to only download what you need based on what you are missing. The kbox will clear out unused patches based on your setting for number of days. It will also on the nightly check in clear out old patches.

You can also restrict by patching labels but with the new 5.5 method you really shouldn't need to do that. - nshah 10 years ago
  • tsienkiewicz@ldirx.com,

As nshah said, the K1000 has a setting under Settings > Control Panel > Patch Settings, called "Delete Unused Patches After XXX Days". Btw, you can learn a lot about K1000 Patching by watching the Patching Week KKE series, if you haven't already (http://www.kace.com/support/training/kke/archive?id=1848CD43-355C-44D4-BDDF-053305FA205D&tag=patching&language=en). r2

  • What if I don't know if I going to need those patches in the future if I delete them after a certain amount of days? - tsienkiewicz@ldirx.com 10 years ago

Go to Patch Settings and then click on Edit Mode. In here you should have the option to clear old patches by editing the Automatically purge unused patches from the cache after: ___ days

This will then begin to clear out old patches and free up space.

You could also add a smart label and mark patches that are all installed and no longer required as inactive and then go into SETTINGS > CONTROL PANEL > PATCH SETTINGS and there should be a delete unused patches button. That will help remove old patches also.
